God brings good out of every situation...even when I make mistakes.

My portacath placement (central line surgically placed under the skin) was scheduled for yesterday at 4pm and I had to arrive at 2:30.  So I hit the ground running and started my day with the Bread & Water of Life, which is the most important meal of the day! I don’t start my day without it! I spent time hearing from my Father through His Word and talking to Him in prayer, made Baked French toast for my boys (a fave), then headed out on an early morning hike with my dog and consistent hiking buddy,  Rifle, as well as a dear friend.  I got back, did our daily “The Bible Recap” podcast with the fam, got cracking on my to-do list before I had to leave for my procedure.

They called me at about 1:00 asking me to come in early....then, & only then, did it hit me....I had let my drive/desire to nail out my to-do list distract me🙈Well, I’m not sure if you know this (but I sure do, I’m a nurse, for crying out loud!), but you can’t eat the day of surgery or you could aspirate while you’re under anesthesia. Whoops! Well, the surgeon & anesthesiologist didn’t want to take that chance and cancelled my procedure. Ugh!

“Dr. Curcio is booked all month. I’ll call you next week to reschedule.”

Wait, what!? Im supposed to start chemo next week and they want a few days to recover before I do!! Lord, You need to step in and stand up to my stupidity...again.  Great is Your faithfulness! They called me back “you’re rescheduled for Monday at 7:45, arrive at 6.” I thanked them, told them to apologize to Dr. C for me and said, happily, “I can do early!!”

God always brings good out of every situation.  College friends are coming to visit this weekend and I’ll be able to enjoy it with them now and play, surf, etc!

Thank You, Lord! You are good! Always! You work all things together for good! Your mercies are new every morning...& afternoon!

Faith in & focus on the Future give power, peace & purpose to the present

  6. I appreciate that you are keeping this journal so I know how to pray for you and praise the Lord with you. I love how you are showing us how He cares for you in the details. I know it's early in your journey, but I'm praying to day for you to have an extra measure of strength and endurance. You made me laugh...I totally would have forgotten and eaten too! Love you my sweet friend! Lisa W.

God is Good!

Well I’m finally back. I have written SO many mental posts with updates and what’s God been teaching me!! Then when I finally get a minute to actually take them out of my mind and onto the screen, my mind bottlenecks and gets overwhelmed with all I want & need to write...it exhausts me & I end up concluding that I’m too tired and don’t have time to transcribe all that’s in my mind onto digital paper. But as I sit here alone at the Denver airport on a long layover en route to Atlanta to celebrate my sisters 50th, I’m starting! We both have September birthdays, hers being on the 10th. We decided to save the celebrating til my chemo was complete, hence the delayed timing of the trip. My younger sister who lives here in Colorado is on her way to meet me and we’ll fly this leg if the trip together! And my parents are traveling from Michigan to meet us as well! How crazy (& sad!) that we are all spread out across the country, coast to coast, north to south- we are so close r...

Song in my Soul

Song in my Soul by Phil Wickham A dear friend sent this to me with her daily encouragement & prayer...I loved it from the first time I heard it! I hope you will too! There's a song in my soul ( how music goes deep into the core of who we are!) And I feel it stirring in me ( springing up from the well of His Word to satisfy the thirsty, he who drinks the Living Water will never thirst again!) This I know for sure ( faith is the assurance of what we know but don’t see) That Your love is like a flood ( washing & washing over me ! And Your mercy never ending ( “ The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-23‬)  I give my song to You ( “ Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants...Let them give glory to the Lord, and declare his praise in the coastl...
