July 16
I went in for the second dose (of 12) of my second round of chemo. I made my appt as early as I could so I could get my infusion and buzz down to meet our youth group on their adventure to San Diego for the day! Great plan...until God intervened with His own. Different from the first chemo “cocktail”, I don’t have to go in the day after my infusion for a little “booster” shot to boost my blood counts, countering the affects on the rapidly-dividing blood cells. Nor do I have to go in to get blood drawn for lab work to see who won that week- my bone marrow or the bomb dropped on the cell factory. Every week my bone marrow has come out victorious, praise the Lord!...that is until this last week. My bone marrow lost this weeks battle (but not the war!) without the reinforcements. The chief commander (Dr. George Miranda, oncologist) was consulted to get the marching orders- procede while the troops are down or let them recover first. He gave the go-ahead...but my activities got shutdown 🥺. I got benched from the San Diego excursion (among other things in submitting to my dear husband’s requests & friends’ encouragement) to minimize expoSure & maximize rest to ready the troops for the next battle next week!
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:28-31
