I just LOVE music!! It has always been such a blessing to my soul & source of JOY!! I share this love with my sweet mama who I love to sing in harmony and do duets on the flute and piano with! So I’m starting my first weekly themed blog post with Saturday Song for the Soul! This week I’m going to combine it with Sunday Sermon Sunshine (rays of His brilliant Light to clearly shine upon our way and help us produce much nourishing fruit)
Song:”Smile” by Sidewalk Prophets
LOVED this song from the first time I heard it with it’s upbeat tune & simple yet encouraging truths.
Life is gonna pull you down
Make it hard to see
But a little change in your point of view
Could be just what you need
Happiness is wonderful
But it doesn't stick around
Walkin' on sunshine
Then here come the clouds
You can laugh or you can cry
When it all falls apart
But I believe the more you laugh
The more you heal the heart
There's always a reason
To always choose joy
There's something deeper
That the world can't destroy
Smile, when you think you can't
Smile, get up and dance
Smile, there's a bigger plan
The storm only lasts for a while
So smile
The reason that theres always a reason to choose joy is unchanging & eternal, with a rock-solid foundation thats deeper than the world can destroy. I can smile on the outside because of the joy that’s down deep in my heart (I started singing that song as I wrote it!๐ “I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart!”) How and why can I have this joy when “life pulls me down, when the clouds come, when it all falls apart?”
You and I can “Count it all joy, my (friends), when (we) meet trials of various kinds, for (we) know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4
When we are “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
And even when it feels like trials last a lifetime “The storm only lasts for a while,” in light of all eternity!
Joy comes in the morning! Psalm 30:5
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’” Matthew 25:21 as we look to Him for purpose, perspective and the power to do what He’s called us to do!
Our pastor is preaching through the Fruit of the Spirit and how to cultivate it through the presence & activity of His Holy Spirit in our lives. Last week was on JOY. https://youtu.be/yK25SeBd90M
He reminds us that godly joy is found when we set our hearts & minds on the Then & There of perfect eternity in heaven with our great God but the Here & Now as well. We can rejoice in and thank God, The Giver of the abundant good gifts He’s given us as we enjoy them each and every day!!
“This is the day that the Lord has made (& everything in it), let us rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:
