Saturday Song for the Soul 8/15

I first heard this song soon after my cancer diagnosis & it just resonated with me! I love(d) it! As I do this band, MercyMe! Even more so since watching “I can only imagine” (fun fact: rewrote the words to that popular song with the help of my hubby & sang it for my sister’s wedding) and “getting to know” them more. What joy it brings to each day to know & ponder the sweet truth that we’re Almost Home!

Journal ‭

Are you disappointed (um, yes! most often with myself...see a theme?🤓)

Are you desperate for help (aren’t we all in some way, shape or form?)

You know what it's like to be tired

And only a shell of yourself (when we allow ourselves to forget who we really are as creations of the King, fearfully & wonderfully made! Our true identity goes so much deeper than our shell!

Well you start to believe (“Believe” is a popular word/catchy one-word phrase these days. But believing isn’t the important thing, rather the object of our belief, what we believe! Let’s make sure it’s true, unchanging truth! Faith in a firm foundation to build our lives upon!)

You don't have what it takes (to be all I want to be, to meet the expectations I’ve set for myself & think God has too)

'Cause it's all you can do (on my own at least)

Just to move much less finish the race (like at mile 24 of a marathon...it’s tempting but that’s not how I feel during a long, grueling race. I know if I just keep moving I will finish the race! Amen! He always gives me the strength to take one more step with every step!)

But don't forget what lies ahead (oh yes!Great reminder to get “Back to the Future!” What a great example we have in Christ, “the Founder & Perfecter of our faith, Who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, despising it’s shame” Hebrews 12:2. Let’s keep what we know about our fantastic forever future on the forefront of our hearts & minds so we are filled with overflowing joy here & now in eager anticipation of then & there!)

Almost home (“set your minds on things above, not on the things of earth” that are battered & broken)

Brother it won't be long (we’re told His return to take us home will come in the blink of an eye...could be our next blink!)

Soon all your burdens will be gone (“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your burdens on him, because he cares for you.” 1 Peter‬ ‭5:6-7‬ ‭”Cast your burdens on the Lord,& He will sustain you, He will never let the righteous be moved.” Psalm 55:22)

With all your strength (“be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” Eph 6:10)

Sister run wild, run free (just what I love to do!)

Hold up your head (& keep looking UP to the Lifter of my head, where my help comes from! Psalm 121:1-2)

Keep pressing on (“not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me His own. One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 3:13-14‬ ‭

We are almost home (yes we are! We need to keep reminding & encouraging each other of that!)

Well this road will be hard (He promised it would be. “In this world you will have trouble. But take ❤️! I have overcome it.” John 16:33 “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” Phil. 3:8-11‬)

But we win in the end (& eternally! Our victory has no end! Amen, hallelujah!)

Simply because of Jesus in us (“we are more than conquerors for those who are IN Christ” Romans 8:28)

It's not if but when (if He said it, consider it done. God is faithful to all His promises. Joshua 21:45)

So take joy in the journey (we know where we’re going, how to get there, why we’re going there & with whom! “Count it all joy, my brothers-& sisters😊-when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”James‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭

Even when it feels long (& let’s be honest, it can but “this is the day that the Lord has made, so let us rejoice & be glad in it” and “Joy comes in the morning” Psalm 30:5)

Oh find strength in each step (every single step, every single day bc “the joy of the Lord is my strength” Neh 8:10 & He’s with me every step)

Knowing heaven is cheering you on (“The Lord, before whom I have walked, will send his angel with you and prosper your way.” Genesis‬ ‭24:40‬)

We are almost home...

I know that the cross has brought heaven to us (John 3:16 & 1 John 3:16!)

But make no mistake there's still more to come (don’t get caught up in the prelude & miss the main event!!)

When our flesh and our bone are no longer between (can’t wait for that day!)

Where we are right now and where we're meant to be (where He created us to be- with Him in His perfect presence forever!)

When all that's been lost has been made whole again (“Behold, I am making a covenant. Before all people I will do marvels, such as have not been created in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people...shall see the work of the Lord, for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you.” Exodus‬ ‭34:10‬)

When these tears and this pain no longer exist (gone forever-extinct! PTL!

No more walking we're running as fast as we can (woohoo!! Here I come, Lord, running to You!🏃🏼‍♀️)

Consider this our second wind (pushing me to the finish line!)

Almost home (What a day that will be and what a place we will see!)

God is Good!

Well I’m finally back. I have written SO many mental posts with updates and what’s God been teaching me!! Then when I finally get a minute to actually take them out of my mind and onto the screen, my mind bottlenecks and gets overwhelmed with all I want & need to write...it exhausts me & I end up concluding that I’m too tired and don’t have time to transcribe all that’s in my mind onto digital paper. But as I sit here alone at the Denver airport on a long layover en route to Atlanta to celebrate my sisters 50th, I’m starting! We both have September birthdays, hers being on the 10th. We decided to save the celebrating til my chemo was complete, hence the delayed timing of the trip. My younger sister who lives here in Colorado is on her way to meet me and we’ll fly this leg if the trip together! And my parents are traveling from Michigan to meet us as well! How crazy (& sad!) that we are all spread out across the country, coast to coast, north to south- we are so close r...

Song in my Soul

Song in my Soul by Phil Wickham A dear friend sent this to me with her daily encouragement & prayer...I loved it from the first time I heard it! I hope you will too! There's a song in my soul ( how music goes deep into the core of who we are!) And I feel it stirring in me ( springing up from the well of His Word to satisfy the thirsty, he who drinks the Living Water will never thirst again!) This I know for sure ( faith is the assurance of what we know but don’t see) That Your love is like a flood ( washing & washing over me ! And Your mercy never ending ( “ The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-23‬)  I give my song to You ( “ Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants...Let them give glory to the Lord, and declare his praise in the coastl...
