(Think I’ll have to call it “Finish Up Friday” as I kept using this day as my catch up day 🤓)
God, I thank You for Truth, true truth, Your unchanging truth and that we can know Your Truth from Your Word to us, written down for us in the pages of scripture! I was reminded afresh of the priceless value of Your written Word as it’s made crystal clear throughout Psalm 119 when we read this week in our Daily Bible Reading plan.
“With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes!” Psalm 119:10-12
When I was an AWANA (renown Bible learning & memorizing program all my boys grew up doing) leader, I would review Psalm 119: 11 with them every week to remind them of the reason & importance of what we were doing in “storing up HiS Word in our hearts that we might not sin against our beloved Creator, Sustainer & Savior!
A few other great verses to remind us of the power & purpose of His written, to lead us to a knowledge of, reconciliation with and a live lived to glorify Him!
“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:4-6
“but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:31
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word(reading, mediating on, memorizing, being transformed by & living out His written Word!) you are truly my disciples (His followers, His adopted children), and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”...Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin....So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:31-32, 34, 36
God so graciously showed me this week through the reading of His Word areas in my life where I was enslaved by lies that I was believing & living out...& set me free with His truth!! Amen! PTL!! I am free indeed!
