Round 14/16...only 2 left! Woohoo!
I will be finished with 5 months of chemotherapy treatment (2 months of every 2 weeks of double-duty AC...nothing cool about this devilish👹cocktail, and 3 months of weekly visits to my friends at the infusion center) in just 2 short weeks! On September 24! And the fun thing about the timing is that it is 2 days before my birthday on September 26- the best birthday blessing ever! 🎁
After phase 1 of treatment, my body is given 4-6 weeks to heal before surgery. And clearly I need a surgeon to have surgery...but the one I’ve been going to just told me at my last appt with her that she’s moving to the East Coast on September 15!😳 So I hit the pavement in pursuit of and prayer for a new surgeon and plastic surgeon that are both on my plan, work together (with my oncologist too), and have privileges at the same hospital. It’s a little bit of a puzzle and God helped direct each piece to fit together perfectly. I have appointments at the end of the month with both...more updates to come.🤗
This week was pretty much par for the course...went in, port accessed, blood drawn, labs run, results in, blood counts obtained...right on track with my every other week pattern: white blood cell and neutrophil counts low. The WBCs were actually not bad, just the low end of normal, but the ANC count was low enough that I earned myself a trip back Friday and Monday for the bone marrow booster. So thankful that my gracious God has spared me the side effects of the chemo even foregoing the pre-meds and the bone pain that often comes as the marrow is stimulated!
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm 103:1-5 (family birthday psalm)
