Saturday Song for the Soul: Hope was Born this Night

This is a late post I meant to post back in December. I’m hoping to use this month to get caught up on the many entries I’ve written in my mind but not transcribed to black & white.

Yes I LOVE music and I especially love Christmas music to get into & feel the spirit of the holiday! The classics are always great but I have really enjoyed some great new(er) songs for the session as we celebrating the coming of our King, the birth of our Lord & Savior like this one by Sidewalk Prophets (& others on this album!). Ask my kids, I’ve been breaking out into song & singing it constantly!! Oh it just fills me with such joy!

“Tonight I can see a star shine

And its splendor fills up the sky (it’s kinda cool that the ‘Jerusalem star’ appeared around the same time it would’ve lit up the sky 2000 years ago! This time it didn’t come with the amazing announcement of the incarnate birth but it still caused up to look up & think about the baby king who came to life on earth, to conquer death once & for all, to reign forevermore!)

It's the same that appeared and the wise men revered (it caused them to look up, listen to the message of the Maker of the stars & follow reverently, faithfully, & humbly where He led. Then as now His Word is a lamp to our feet & a Light to our path to guide us in the life no matter how dark it gets)

When hope was born this night (Amen!! The true, lasting, sure hope born into our hearts & souls because of the birth of the Christ child, the Son of God the Father sent to be “Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”)

Out upon the snowy fields (in the dark, dead of winter the Light & Life came!)

There's a silent peace that heals (a perfect peace that passes understanding comes in the quiet stillness of life’s ‘night’ that brings spiritually healing & relational restoration with us & the Creator of all)

And it echoes the grace of our Savior's embrace (His actions “speak” loud & clear of His abundant love, grace & truth embodied in Jesus who came to seek & save the lost)

Because hope was born this night (& lives on today in our hearts & minds!)

Glory to God in the highest (all glory & credit go to Him who prepared & performed the plan perfectly)

Peace on Earth (brought from heaven by the Prince), good will to all men (the greatest good to all those who make peace with God through the baby born that night!)

Let all of the world sing the chorus of joy (let us praise His holy name together so all the world will hear & know & receive the Joy to the world because the Lord has come!)

Because hope was born this night

I can hear the Christmas bells ring (as many “make a joyful, melodious noise unto Him!”)

As softly as a church choir sings (how can we not respond in celebratory song?!)

It's the song used to praise the ancient of days (from eternity past He’s existed, & for all eternity He will continue!)

When hope was born this night

There are angels in this place (who boldly proclaimed His entrance on earth!)

And my heart resounds with the praise (& echoes it joyfully!)

Like a shepherd so scared, I'll rejoice and declare (the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom! And His perfect love casts out any earthly fears so I can declare it boldly!)

That hope was born this night (Amen! What a blessed hope that is!)

God is Good!

Well I’m finally back. I have written SO many mental posts with updates and what’s God been teaching me!! Then when I finally get a minute to actually take them out of my mind and onto the screen, my mind bottlenecks and gets overwhelmed with all I want & need to write...it exhausts me & I end up concluding that I’m too tired and don’t have time to transcribe all that’s in my mind onto digital paper. But as I sit here alone at the Denver airport on a long layover en route to Atlanta to celebrate my sisters 50th, I’m starting! We both have September birthdays, hers being on the 10th. We decided to save the celebrating til my chemo was complete, hence the delayed timing of the trip. My younger sister who lives here in Colorado is on her way to meet me and we’ll fly this leg if the trip together! And my parents are traveling from Michigan to meet us as well! How crazy (& sad!) that we are all spread out across the country, coast to coast, north to south- we are so close r...

Song in my Soul

Song in my Soul by Phil Wickham A dear friend sent this to me with her daily encouragement & prayer...I loved it from the first time I heard it! I hope you will too! There's a song in my soul ( how music goes deep into the core of who we are!) And I feel it stirring in me ( springing up from the well of His Word to satisfy the thirsty, he who drinks the Living Water will never thirst again!) This I know for sure ( faith is the assurance of what we know but don’t see) That Your love is like a flood ( washing & washing over me ! And Your mercy never ending ( “ The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-23‬)  I give my song to You ( “ Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants...Let them give glory to the Lord, and declare his praise in the coastl...
